In modern Dutch we have the word ‘weemoed’ (‘melancholic’). ‘wee’ is ‘sad’ or ‘miserable’ and ‘moed’ has here the meaning of ‘mood’. Which means that ‘wāc-mōd’ can either be ‘weak’ or ‘wee’ (‘small’). Thus: ‘of weak mood’ or ‘of small mood’. LikeLiked by 1 person
