bōc-gestrēon

bōc-gestrēon, n.n: a book-treasury, library. (BOAK-yeh-STRAY-on / ˈboːk-jɛ-ˌstreːɔn)

A graphic of “The Deorhord: An Old English Bestiary” with a photo of the author Hana Videen; the text reads “Blackwell’s Non-Fiction Book of the Month”. A quote from Eleanor Janega says “Invaluable - and hugely entertaining… It is an absolute romp and a must-have for history and fantasy enthusiasts alike.” There are illustrations of a finned horse-like creature, a dragon, a griffin and some ants, and a banner reads “Shop instore and online at blackwells.co.uk.”
Why not add THE DEORHORD to your personal bōc-gestrēon (or that of a frēond)? It’s Blackwell’s Non-Fiction BOOK OF THE MONTH! [blackwells.co.uk]

    • Practically speaking, there’s probably no difference, but gestrēon means riches, wealth or treasure, while gesamnung is simply a collection of things. So bōc-gestrēon implies something fancier, more impressive, or of greater value perhaps.
